Tim never told anybody, but at least one of his attempts to re-clone Kon took.
Just one.
But one was all Tim needed to hope for just a moment that he could have one person he loved returned to him. Just one.
It brought Tim so much joy that he would even speak to the tiny clone, even when haggard with lack of sleep, even when the fear of another failure clawed at his mind. The little clone eased his mind in those moments, when he would speak softly to it, tell it of what had occurred and how things were. He spoke to it like he would Conner if he were there, and to him, Kon was.
The tiny growing clone was a flicker of light in the darkness of his grief and despair, a small moment of joy, a mark of the dream--however fruitless--that he could have his best friend back, one day.
It took only one.
Just one death of one tiny clone, barely formed, to send Tim teetering back into the abyss of his grief, his joy lost and the small flame of hope snuffed.
It took only one moment cradling the clone to make Tim cry over his losses and lament yet another failure.
It took only one, and Tim will never tell.
