As promised, here is the in-depth look into Sakaye's Shippuden clothing changes, why I chose them, when they are done, and what each means for the change in her character as the series progresses.

Note: Sakaye is supposed to be about a D-cup. However, due to an error on my part, she looks more like a C-cup. *groans* Why is she so hard to get right?...

Orika Costume
Age 15

-This outfit is worn during Sakaye's time with Orika and is first seen when Team 7 meets her again. She wears it until the creation of Team Hebi. Now, this outfit is an odd one for Sakaye to wear, as it seems to go against everything she believes in; looking feminine, showing skin; her hair's even worn down and her bangs are concealing her eye, a very impractical move. Nothing about this outfit seems to be practical.

-Well, I've always had the thought that Orika probably had more than a little to do with Sakaye's choice of clothing while under her tutelage. As you may notice, this costume of Sakaye's is actually rather similar to her mentor's in a sense. I imagine that Orika may even have picked this outfit out for her and that Sakaye protested vehemently, but after Orika, with the help of Koyuki, made a good argument about its “practicality,” that being along the lines of Sakaye using herself as a literal “weapon,” and after a sickly-sweet threat, Sakaye very, very grudgingly gave in and wore the outfit, silently counting down the days when she might leave Orika and be rid of the clothing.

-Of course, the Sakaye using herself as a “weapon” thing would only work on men, but still...

-Anyway, the outfit consists of a black kimono, with a blue kimono underneath, both cut to about her knees and slitted on the side to reveal one leg up to the upper thigh. The sleeves are long, reaching to her knuckles, and a blue... tube-type, stretchy cloth wraps around the kimono, with a lavender obi tied around her waist that makes a large bow in the back. The kimono is low-cut and almost falls off her shoulders, revealing Sakaye's bountiful, but never seen until then, cleavage. She wears shoes similar to Orika's, though the color is the same blue as her under-kimono, as opposed to the black of Orika's. Her hair is longer and worn down, the also longer bangs covering her left eye, much as Orika's do.

-Sakaye has developed further, sprouting from the B-cup she had in Part One, to the D-cup of now, which she would have if I hadn't screwed up and given her a C instead. *smacks forehead* Anyway, the thing is that Sakaye was never supposed to get any larger than a B. That was pretty much her stopping point, but while with Orika, Sakaye was administered several drugs, half of which were secretly slipped to her so as to prep her body for Orika's goal when she would someday take over her body. The further-developed figure of Sakaye's is a side effect of those drugs. (Confused? Orika's goals are different from Orochimaru's. Read here to understand: [link])

-This is the first time that mysterious accessory, a thin gold chain, around her neck can be fully seen. When did she get it? How long has she had it? The world may never know...

-To be honest, Sakaye doesn't even really look like Sakaye in this outfit, in comparison to her other Shippuden selves because it's really not something she would willingly wear. That said, there's not a whole lot else I can say about this costume.

-However, it is strange that she would have grown her hair our so much. It could be put off as Orika's influence again, considering the bangs concealing her eye, but she continues to keep her hair that length even after killing Orika and leaving the Sound Village. One would think that someone of Sakaye's practical nature would find it better to crop it short again, and yet, she doesn't. Then again, she did keep her hair long even after the meeting with Ichiko, so I would think that keeping it long is, again, a symbol of her growth, but for it to have gotten that long? Very interesting... It's definitely something to ponder.

-Both of the starting Sakayes for Part One and Shippuden have begun with their hair down; Pre-Massacre Sakaye and Orika Costume Sakaye.

Team Hebi/Snake
Age 15/16

-This outfit is worn after Sakaye kills Orika and as she goes off to gather the members of Team Hebi. It is worn up to the battle with Deidrea. Here her swords are finally seen strapped to her back. She has them while with Orika, but they are not seen in that image of her or in the scenes where she is seen. They are not actually seen on her person until this Team Hebi outfit.

-The outfit consists of a blue kimono reaching to Sakaye's knees with ¾ sleeves. It splits open to reveal a black dress underneath, which is sleeveless and has a square collar, reaching to just above her knees. Around her shoulders are two strips of cloth which bind her swords to her back. Her shoes are the same and her hair is now tied back with a white tie. Her bangs also no longer cover her eye, much to her pleasure. The strips of cloth and tie are the only articles of white she will be seen wearing and are only allowed because they're such small accessories.

-Sakaye has two swords, which she likely attained at some point or other while in Orika's hideout. She carries two because she finds it more practical, thinking that should she lose one at any point, she will always have the other to turn to.

-She wears a strange, silver-blue article over the kimono and dress. It is stretchy, durable, and a little bit thicker than it looks. It's also surprisingly shiny and appears to be cloth, but... not. It's almost like some sort of strange hybrid armor. It's rumored that it's an experimental armor that was being worked on in Sound and that Sakaye “borrowed” it on her departure, finding great use in it.

-This outfit can be described as “Pretty, yet practical” to quote Suri's thoughts on first seeing it. I consider it a transition from the very pretty clothing Sakaye wore while with Orika to the practical clothing she is seen wearing in the future. I'm sure Sakaye would prefer something a little less feminine, but unfortunately, due to her body type, her clothing options are limited and she had to settle for the kimono-style clothing gathered away in her closet from her years in Orika's hideout. On an interesting note, this is the second time Sakaye is seen wearing a dress. *grins*

Post-Deidrea Battle; Uchiha Final Battle
Age 16

-This outfit is worn after Sakaye's battle with Deidrea during that recovery period up until her battle with Ichiko. Sakaye has pulled her hair back up into that high ponytail again in an interesting mimic of her young, genin self. Last time Sakaye faced Ichiko her hair was also in a ponytail; not quite so high, but higher than Sakaye had it in the Team Hebi outfit. It's close enough. Also, the high ponytail seem to keep her hair even more out of the way than the low one, so it's perhaps more practical. It's interesting to note that this transition of lower ponytail to higher ponytail is a direct opposite of Sakaye's high ponytail to lower ponytail in Part One, though this shift reverses itself after the Uchiha battle.

-Sakaye has bandages again like she did with her last two outfits in Part One. They are also of a very similar nature, perhaps in parallel to them, for this outfit here also consists of gray capris, a black top of sorts and black shoes. Every meeting with Ichiko has ended with Sakaye turning towards the color gray, and now, in her final battle with Ichiko, at a time when Sakaye's at her darkest and most somber, Sakaye again wears the color, so you could say that gray is associated with Ichiko and the memories that come with her.

-The only bandages that differentiate from the bandages seen when Sakaye left Konoha are the ones wrapped around her forehead and torso, the latter of which wrap around her breasts, over her chest and stomach, and down to just below her pant line, continuing to keep any excess skin from view, since the new kimono top is more open than her previous ones. It is bound in the middle by a gray sash.

-Her shoes are now different, Sakaye probably having traded them out because the previous pair was likely damaged during her fight with Deidrea. Interestingly enough, this mimics the transition in Part One, where she went from blue shoes to black.

-The strange accessory around her neck still remains.

Post-Ichiko Death
Age 16

-This outfit is worn after Ichiko's death and is purposely meant to resemble Ichiko's Shippuden outfit. Sakaye is very much meant to look like her sister here. There are even a few comments on the similarities.

-After Ichiko's death and learning the truth, Sakaye is completely torn up with anger, sadness, guilt, and so much more. I imagine that afterward, when taken into the Akatsuki lair, that she ends up migrating towards the room her sister once stayed in. There she glances over her things and through her closet and I image it's even possible that she found the outfit she wears at this point in her sister's closet. It would make sense since they have such similar body shapes, though her sister is a few inches taller. In memory of her sister, Sakaye pulls her hair back in a manner much like Ichiko did.

-The outfit consists of a long black shirt, which is sleeve-less rather than short-sleeved like her sister's, is bound by a gray sash around the waist instead of a white one, and is open only to the collar bone, rather than low-cut like her sister's, which revealed cleavage. However, the shirt does still take on a kimono-ish style at the top and still extends to the wrists. Unlike her sister's black capris, Sakaye wears gray pants bunched up at the upper-shin. The bandages remain, though she has lost the ones around her forehead and torso, and the shoes are the same.

-For the first time since Shippuden, it is uncertain if the strange accessory resides around her neck, as it can not be seen if it does.

Akatsuki
Age 16/(17?)

-This is basically the outfit of before with the addition of the Akatsuki cloak. It is first when Sakaye and her team head off to capture Kirabi. This cloak is the same as the others except that it has a hood rather than a high collar.

-In this instance, Sakaye looks more like her sister than ever before. There are actually a few, who when seeing her from behind or afar, actually mistake her for her sister or believe her to be Ichiko back from the dead, until they take a closer look and realize their error. The similarities are even more striking with the addition of the Akatsuki cloak, and it's possible that this is Sakaye's intent. Perhaps its Sakaye's way of keeping her sister alive for herself or for a silent self-punishment for helping to bring her sister to her death. If that is the case, it's likely that it's an unconscious effort, for Sakaye consciously puts the blame on the people of Konoha and doesn't seem to blame herself. So, it's possible that, without realizing it, Sakaye is punishing herself for her sister's death, for every time she looks in a mirror or sees her reflection, even a glance out of the corner of her eye, it will be her sister staring back at her, even if its only for an instant.

-I placed the blood under her left eye as a representation of her use of the Mangekyou. She actually has the Mangekyou activated, though I doubt you can see that.
